Question 1.
All humans are equal, and all have the right to exist. I do presentations on Sikhism to educate students
of school district 23 and I convey this message at every presentation. My former general manager
belonged to the LGBTQ+ community. I also had the pleasure of attending his wedding.
Question 2.
I am in favour of an educated student base. Education breaks down barriers in society.
Question 3.
Education I find is always the best tool for breaking down stigma and prejudice. Leaders must make it
clear that there is zero tolerance for violence against anyone. The courts need to hand out maximum
sentences to those that commit acts of violence because of prejudice.
Question 4.
Programs are needed that build self confidence. Individuals need to be proud of who they are. People
need to be taught how to deal with situations and not become a victim of it.
Question 5.
Young adults leave because they want to escape from the mental torture they are suffering inside. Loss
of friends, outcasted by family and a feeling of not belonging. Other factors are having a hard time
finding work or a place to stay.
Question 6.
I belong to a visible minority and I have found that education is the key. Being able to communicate your
message effectively helps build acceptance. Also, you need to give back to the community by
volunteering. Being out there also builds acceptance.
